The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at Harrogate Neighbours

Queens Award 1 Scaled E1622733631216

On Wednesday 2nd June 2021, our Harrogate and Ripon Food Angels were presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Johanna Ropner.

We would like to congratulate all of our staff and volunteers for the award and their continuous hard work.

Below we have both video footage and photos of the ceremony.

In the pictures are Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire Jo Ropner, and Deputy Lord-Lieutenants who were the assessors Maj Gen Michael Charlton-Weedy and The Countess Charlotte Peel.

The pictures also display Sue Cawthray the CEO of Harrogate Neighbours, Gaynor Best who is our Food Angels Co-ordinator and David Critchley, Janet Firth, Reg Pratt and Irene Small who are all part of our team of Volunteers.

Some kind words from the assessors:

“Harrogate and Ripon food angels are a relatively small voluntary organisation that serves a rapidly growing dependency with pressing needs.  For their beneficiaries they provide an indispensable  life enhancing service that directly supports public policy.  What makes H and R food angels is exceptional is the outstanding quality of every aspect of their operation – award winning, innovative delivery, exemplary volunteer training and support, successful business engagement – combined with effectiveness and benefits that extend far beyond the deliver of meals.”
