To say thank you to the ‘unsung heroes’ in our community, we decided to deliver surprise ‘Special Moments’ Afternoon Tea Boxes to carers’ supported by local charity, Carers’ Resource.

Launched in lockdown to help people celebrate those ‘special moments’ in life in an affordable way, our beautifully arranged afternoon tea boxes are filled with a selection of home-made sandwiches, sconces, cakes and fresh fruit.

Residents Eric and Michael were on hand to help box and deliver the afternoon tea packages to the team at Carers’ Resource, who then delivered the boxes to 6 unpaid carers’ who were surprised and delighted to have been chosen.

Harrogate based Fiona, a carer who received a ‘Special Moments’ box and who is supported by Carers’ Resource said, “I am so thrilled with my afternoon tea as I never get anything and I will really enjoy it – thank you for thinking of me.”

As an organisation, we have felt very supported throughout a very challenging 18 months, so it was lovely to recognise those people who as well as care for loved ones, often also hold down full-time jobs and support their own families – they truly are heroes in our eyes!
