This week we were thrilled to be visited by both Richard Taylor School's gardening club and Andrew from RHS Harlow Carr, who came to work with our residents to learn about growing our own food.
Andrew brought along hundreds of lettuces and taught the participants how to properly pot them on from starting plugs to larger pots. The children then helped our older residents pot up larger growing pots of lettuce and rocket, before joining in on our sunflower growing competition!
Katie, age 11, said "Today was amazing, I loved it here. My favourite part was meeting everyone, they were so kind. I loved the garden!"
James, age 10, said "My favourite part was planting the lettuce. I'd definitely come back again!"
Andrew was then able to donate a lot of plants from Harlow Carr's nurseries, which will go on to find homes at Harrogate Neighbours gardens and the school's grounds.
A big thank you to Harlow Carr and Richard Taylor school for coming along and sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm and kindness with us here!
