Harrogate Neighbours Golf day 2025 is a hole in one!

Golf Day Facebook Post

On October 3rd, 18 teams of golfers braved the elements at Tadcaster Golf Club to play 18 holes of golf to raise money for Harrogate Neighbours meals on wheels service.

Arriving at the golf club in the morning, teams were optimistic about the storm holding off long enough to finish their games. As they departed the club house, bacon sarnies in hand and golf clubs ready, the first spots of rain were starting to appear.
Little did they know that before long, they would be playing golf in a full scale storm.

As the games began, laughter could be heard from around the course, as the first swings were taken. The golf days we run are always wonderful events for spending some time with friends or colleagues, offering advice, guidance or a bit of light hearted banter when a ball goes into the rough!

Sue Cawthray, CEO of Harrogate Neighbours, said:

“We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised — £4,012 is a phenomenal total, especially given the challenging weather conditions!

“The funds will go directly towards purchasing new machinery for packing meals for our volunteer-led meals on wheels service, which has seen a significant rise in demand across the community.

"We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, sponsored, and supported the day — it truly makes a difference.”

Among the players was Simon Cottom, Managing Director of The Fat Badger, who added:

“It was a pleasure to take part in the Harrogate Neighbours Golf Day last Friday.

"Although the weather did its absolute best to put us off concentrating on our game, our team managed to get round this super course, in one piece, albeit soaked to the bone by the time we walked off the 18th green!

“Well done to the fantastic team at Harrogate Neighbours for organising a great day and maybe the weather will do its part next year to make it a ‘perfect score!’”

The day included a taste of Slinsgby Gin at the halfway house, a chance for players to buy mulligan to top up there score, and concluded with a raffle, prize presentation where prizes had been provided by Kinsey Partnership which helped towards the thousands of pounds raised.
